8 Things to do in Vienna-Austria

Firstly, we need to know - Vienna. It is the capital city of Austria. If you are having your free time and you are living in Vienna or living somewhere around the city then you are very lucky to spend your leisure time.  This city is full of palaces, gardens, historic centers etc…  I am going to suggest some beautiful places of Vienna. I have made a short list of places I visited, but I am not descriptive about those as I have been there long ago. So let’s begin with the top most visited places:

1. St.Stephan’s Cathedral: This is one of the best cathedrals which I have seen in my life time. The structure of this Cathedral is so much attractive and pleasing to watch. The height of Cathedral is around 137-138 Mts. The roof of this cathedral is designed with mosaic tiles. It a much watch Cathedral if you visit Vienna.

2. Hundertwasserhaus: Popularly known as “Hundertwasserhaus House” is also one of the best places to visit. It is built so colorfully that you get lost in its beauty. There is restriction to go inside the building but there is no limit to view its beauty from outside. If you need articles /posters /images /information of this house then you can find those around the building. The House is surrounded by many cafes, shops, help centers etc…So visitors don’t get bored. Many of the belongings (items or things) to this house are found in the nearby museum called Kunst Haus Wien. You are always welcome to visit this museum and increase your knowledge about Hundertwasserhaus.

3. Naschmarkt: It is also called as “Kitchen of Vienna. This is the place where you can spend your time filling your stomach.  Here, you can find all the food items of Austria country tradition, favorites etc… It is a food market found between the two major streets Rechte and Linke Wienzeile. There are lots to eat if you visit this place. But be careful about your wallet, you may end up spending everything you have.

4. Schonbrunn Palace: Do not forget to visit this historic palace of Vienna. It is said that it consists of 1441 rooms. I am very frank. I have not visited this palace due to lack of time. But yet found some important notes on it from one of my friends. Its architectural Style is Rococo. It is the former residences of the imperial family Habsburgs. Do not forget to cover whole palace while taking photographs. It’s fantastic to view.

5. Almdudler: If you are thirsty then this is it. If you are tired of going around the city and want to have some drinks then the first option is Almdudler. It is the most popular drink of Austria next to Coke. . It is made up of grapes and apple juice which tastes sweet. One of the residencies of Vienna told us that this drink will be regularly exported from Austria but it is very hard to find it even in other parts of country. If you miss out this drink then it is no use of visiting Vienna.

6. Musical History City: You can be very sure to find the great composer houses, items, articles all around Vienna. If know something about music and most popular music composers of all time then I am sure you might be familiar with names of great composers like Beethoven, Hayden and Shubert. Their houses and memorials can be found in the city of Vienna. Do read their works and you will feel happy for what you have done.

7. Walk around the City:  Its sounds quite easy task. Isn’t it? The major tourist attractions and center of Vienna is surrounded by a ring road called Ringstrasse. A regular walk leads you to the most beautiful palaces of Vienna like Schonbrunn Palace.

8. Watch the Opera:  It is a must watch show of Vienna. You will have to stand in a queue to purchase the tickets for the show. But I am sure you will not get disappointed for the wait you made. It is often crowded near ticket counters. People try their best to get the tickets to watch the most beautiful show of Vienna.

There are many other things to do in Vienna. Hope you enjoyed reading and will surely visit the places I mentioned. And please pardon me for grammatical mistakes and bad language if any.

Thank you.
